What Your Survival Vehicle Should Have

Having an automobile in a survival situation could be a blessing or an encumbrance. It all depends whether or not your ride has the necessary characteristics and capacity to endure harsh conditions and obstacles. Cars and the like are significant monetary investments, to be sure; this is why if you do have one or more, you should determine whether or not your vehicle has what it takes when times get very, very dire.

Some people must be thinking I’m espousing the idea of purchasing expensive motor vehicles. Quite the opposite, actually. For one, your speedy convertible sports car simply won’t make the cut to be a survival vehicle, in my opinion. The only time I’d think a crazy-expensive truck like a Hummer is a good idea would be if you had your bug-out location conveniently near or within an auto parts warehouse or a junkyard. It’s not about buying an expensive car, folks.

With that out of the way, let me elaborate on what your ideal survival ride should be/have:

Chassis Type: SUT/SUV, a Truck, or a Mini-Bus

When all heck breaks loose, do not (Read more....)

Financial Survival Tips for Older Workers in a Bad Economy

The economic downturn has been really tough on many people throughout the world. The youngest workers and baby boomers have been hit harder than most other people. Planning for retirement has always been difficult for many people. You will need to be even more disciplined now that the economy has faced so many problems. Here are some things you will need to take into consideration.

Keep Your Spending Under Control!

Most people roll their eyes when you tell them to spend more frugally; however, few people will ever admit to themselves how much they actually spend. A new study from the National Center for Policy Analysis has found that most older workers are spending a higher percentage of their money on disposable income than in previous years, even though their incomes haven’t increased.

Celebrity financial advisors such as Suzie Orman keep telling people they need to cut their spending and save more for retirement. This is essential advice when you are reaching your golden years. Stop spending as much money on Starbucks and start putting more into your 401K.

Be Prepared for a Forced Retirement

Alternative Ideas for Bug-Out Locations

By Stacey Thompson

Whether you are a dedicated prepper/survivalist or not, it’s actually a good idea to have a secondary refuge apart from your present abode. If anything happens to your present residence, you have somewhere to go. You can let a friend or family member stay there if you don’t have the room. At the least, you have a personal asylum where you can get away from your regular routine.

There are the more conventional refuges that preppers and non-preppers have such as log houses, RVs, boats, and the like. I’d like to suggest a few other possible bug-out locations that you could consider. Take note that some setup and assembly may be required of some of them, but I’m not going to offer solutions that will break the bank.

Trucks or Buses

Trucks and buses are very feasible bug-out locations, mainly because they are mobile. Some second-hand trucks and buses are even more affordable than RVs, and can be repurposed to become living quarters.

Don’t just buy any truck you see rotting in somebody’s backyard; have a mechanic handy to inspect the vehicle and determine if they’re still in (Read more....)

Communism or Capitalism? Which is it to be?

Authored By Dave Webb

Obamacare is only the latest move towards our going into a communistic/socialistic state.

We have been gradually going to the Communistic side of economics for a good number of years. There are a good number of questions that need to be asked of our representatives in the Congress.

There is a valid case for a socialist type economy in today’s world. Apparently Mr. Romney’s 47% people on welfare is alarming to a lot of us. The problem I have with it is qualifications. In order to qualify, you have to be practically bankrupt. Or you have to stay below a certain income level to qualify.

Even the VA Hospitals have put income qualifications in place by President Bush’s executive orders. Those orders are still in effect years after he is out of office. I find this to be a national disgrace. No other country in the world has such a system of penalizing people who risked their lives because they happened to be successful in civilian life. But we do a lot of thiings like penalizing people (Read more....)

Why Hanging Up Your Food Up In A Tree Is Essential In Camping

Authored By Jason Miner

Camping is one of those activities that people either love or hate. Unless you are an avid camper you don’t know what you are up against. There are certain basic equipment needs and planning that needs to be done beforehand to make for a successful experience. Or, if you are like me and my family you can throw some things together and fly by the seat of your pants. Either way you go I can guarantee you that camping is an extremely bonding experience.

When my children were small we didn’t have a lot of money for vacations but I was determined that we would go on a family vacation at least once a year. What made it even more fun was the fact that my husband did not like to go on vacations. On the rare occasion that he would attend one of our vacations, going camping was simply out of the question. The only camping he was going to do was in our bedroom. But since we didn’t have a lot of money and both of my children loved the out of doors I decided that we would give it a (Read more....)

Advice To Survivalists- Consider Relocating to Canada,Part IV: The Regions

Authored By J Vanne.

The Maritime Provinces – Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia

The maritime provinces – Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia – are generally regarded as a region that has chronic unemployment , and in one sense, is almost “the land that time forgot,”  in that much of the economic development that has gone on in Canada moved west for various reasons.  However, where there are issues like this, there may be opportunity for you. This article will explore those possible opportunities.

Newfoundland

If you consider this province, first attend the Newfoundland 101 class: the province may be pronounced by an emphasis on either the first or last syllable – never the middle one.  Newfoundland joined Canada only in 1949, after some brief toying with the possibility of joining the US. One key economic item is the Hibernia oil field off the coast, which is a plus for economic stability, but generally Newfoundland is a (Read more....)
