Fulfilling our basic needs of warmth, protection and food in an apocalyptic situation or after natural disaster can be challenge, but it doesn’t have to be if you prepare properly ahead of time. Spending some time and money investing in quality food and supplies will take you a long way in desperate times. The last thing you want to do is be stuck without the basic necessities in a bad situation.
Creating Warmth
In a natural disaster, you might be facing snow, wind, rain, or freezing temperatures. Investing in a subzero proof sleeping bag for each person in your family will ensure warmth no matter how cold it gets; and protect them from frostbite and hypothermia. Fleece blankets for during the day time are also good to keep in your kit, since shelters aren’t always the warmest.
Thermal under armor, ski glasses, waterproof boots, waterproof gloves, lined coats and hats should also be in your kit for each person to keep everyone dry and warm. Thin gloves and beanies allow water to seep in and chill the body down leading to hypothermia. Keeping your health in a disaster is of up-most importance, so don’t skimp (Read more....) […]

Steel buildings are rapidly becoming the favoured construction type for the present residential, industrial, institutional, commercial and agricultural markets. The market for steel construction is progressively growing at a fast pace. And, it comes as no surprise since; steel offers a huge number of benefits to the building purchasers. By being economical, functional, flexible, energy proficient, environmentally friendly and healthy; steel buildings offer buyers a comfort level which cannot be paralleled by any other construction methods.

As we have been offering the remaining space in our community, we have been contacted by many people who wish they could join us, but just can’t leave their current family obligations. Sometimes there is a spouse who is physically ill, sometimes their loved ones just don’t “get it”. Besides expressing their deep longing to live the way we do – personally free and self-sufficient – they give us their apologies for not being able to join us. No apology needed.
To make the decision to stay in the midst of the coming chaos because those to whom you have a deep and loving commitment cannot wrest themselves from their current lifestyle is also a valid and courageous choice – as long as it is made with good information and open eyes. When chaos arrives (and it’s coming on a fast track) those who remain dependent on the systems (corporate, medical, governmental entitlements such as food stamps, disability payments, etc.) will likely be left in the lurch and fending for themselves (Read more....) Many of you have read all about relocating to places like Belize, Pago-Pago – or perhaps even the Kerguelen Islands if you really want to get away (extra credit for those who can even find the Kerguelen Islands on a world map without googling it!). There may or may not be some merit a number of relocation countries, and no doubt some readers here have already done research in that regard. No doubt, there is a wide range of countries with a wide range of advantages and disadvantages. My goal is not to dissuade you from some place warm and sunny, but rather ensure you have considered the full panoply of possible options – including Canada.
Many of the countries people are examining come with large question marks – such as, for one example, Costa Rica, which has a large cadre of committed leftists in leadership, even if they are not currently a formally Communist country. Mexico? Would you really feel safe in an almost-failed country during an economic or grid meltdown? Will you fit in culturally, and how well have you mastered the language? There (Read more....) […]

As of Nov. 15th, 2012, all 50 states had petitions in place to secede from the “Union”. Some of the alternative news media have jumped on the wagon, vying for first place to lead the charge.
Fighting the system to “fix” (or resurrect) it, is the same as fighting over who gets the tenderloin steak off a dead and rotting cow. For many of you I am sure this will be an extremely radical statement. But if that system lead us to the morass of greed and evil in which we are today, wouldn’t it be better to step aside while it collapses and help lead society to a better paradigm, based more on caring about others than about squeezing the last penny out of some useless consumer product?
Just what is “the system”? The system is an (Read more....) […]

By the end of the day we should all know the winner of the 2012 Presidential Election. Of course, there’s always the possibility that it’s too close to call. Perhaps a recount of dangling, hanging, dimpled, and pregnant chads will be needed to determine the outcome. This sort of thing has happened before, you know.
Nevertheless, according to Bond King Bill Gross the outcome of the election will make no difference…
“Obama/Romney, Romney/Obama – the most important election of our lifetime? Fact is they’re all the same – bought and paid for with the same money. Ours is a country of the SuperPAC, by the SuperPAC, and for the SuperPAC. The ‘people’ are merely election-day pawns, pulling a Democratic or Republican lever that will deliver the same results every four years.”
Gross may have a point… But, election-day pawn or not, we still vote for who we want to win. Quite frankly, we’re tired of President Obama. We’re tired of his big (Read more....) […]
