Once upon a time in the United States of America, workers could rely on a steadily growing economy that always provided lots of good paying jobs. If you were honest, hard-working and reliable you could almost always find employment that could provide a living for you and your family. Those times were wonderful times in America. But now those times are gone.
Each month hundreds of thousands more Americans are losing their jobs. Without work, they are scrambling for survival. Millions of others have had to take jobs that are lower paying than what they had previously. Jobs that one used to be able to support a family with are being shipped overseas or are being taken by illegal aliens.
There are those among our own family and friends who are unemployed or underemployed. These include professional people with college degrees. As hard as they try, some of them cannot get anything.
Why can’t they find a job? Are they just lazy?
No.
The reality is that the government figures VASTLY understate the real level of unemployment. Just check out the following YouTube video which does a great job of explaining why the REAL unemployment number if more like twice what the government is telling us…..
As you can see from the map below the areas hit by unemployment the worst are the west coast, Nevada (the gambling industry is in freefall), the upper midwest (the auto industry problems are not going away) and the southeast (especially Florida). The truth is that if you live in any of these areas and you don’t have a job it might be a really good idea for you to think about relocating…..
If you do still have a job, the lesson from all of this is that you cannot count on having it indefinitely. Come up with a back up plan. Have enough money in the bank so that you can last for at least a year if you do lose your job. Think about how you can make some money on the side.
The truth is that the economy of the United States is dying, and you need to think about how you and your family are going to make it in the hard times ahead. Now is the time to come up with a plan for financial survival. If you think that you will always have a great job to rely on you could be very sorely mistaken. Please prepare while you still have time.
